Really, the only thing you may want to look for is a true resolution of 640X480. And a built-in microphone is often handy. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.
I think most of the Lifecams fill the bill. http://tinyurl.com/5srw7c You're going to have a harder time finding software to use for easy chatting (none of them work with the others), and a MUCH more difficult time after the first call figuring out exactly why you thought video chat would be a good idea in the first place.
