A Mac will run Windows fine these days, so don't worry about compatibility with Windows - you don't have to use Mac OS at all (many don't). If you really mean you want to try the Mac *OS*, then you may be able to install it on your current PC. See http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/about.html .
