This reminds of a company I did hardware support for a long time ago.

The program was written in accu-cobol and was only used on Intel based Xenix/Dos systems, before Windows took off.

There was a routine that had a date limit set on it. (I cant for the life of me remember what it was)

The policy was that when we fixed a system (solved the hardware problem and OS/Program stuff was ours) we would set the date for 12/31/99.

Well that was in the early 90's and we all dreaded what would happen to the poor fool who would be carrying the pager that night.

Needless to say that was a long time ago, and I bet 99% of the staff that was there then was not there on 12/31/99. Hopefully the program was changed and no longer needed that date.

go belly up, well, I just don't know what else to say.
