I realize that I'm wasting my breath here, but you might consider trying
IE8. Firefox runs all its tabs from one process, but IE8 uses a separate
process for each one. That makes opening a new tab a little slower, but
opening a lot of tabs doesn't slow it down. I think Chrome works this way
too.
