Is there any way to remove the very intrusive search box that Windows Search 4.0 puts on the WinXP task bar? And put it away until it is wanted, perhaps brining it up when needed by clicking on a systray icon or a quicklaunch icon.
I'm not really sure what Windows Search 4.0 really does for me, and I haven't taken the time to read up on it. All I know is that it permanently takes up a significant amount of space on the task bar, and crowds out the Taskbar buttons that provide access to currently-open windows. I got it as an update to WinXP, and, for the time being, I've uninstalled it because of its annoyance. When I uninstalled it there were various warnings that certain things would break, but I ignored the warnings.
