There's absolutely nothing wrong with being elite. We would hope to have our elite running our government, our universities, etc. Elite athletes are worthy of our admiration (well, most of them are, anyway). But being elitIST is an entirely different matter: "The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources." Here are some of the substitutes suggested by one if the thesauri: snobbish, superior, arrogant, pretentious, stuck-up, patronizing, and condescending. Not such a good thing, eh? :) ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
