It doesn't really tell you the source. It shows other places on the web where that image is used. This could be a stock agency, which could validly be called a "source", but it is mostly many random users of the image. I uploaded a photo that I suspected was a composite. One of the images TinEye found was a major component of the photo I uploaded. So that was interesting. TinEye's compare image function clearly showed that the found image exactly matched a portion of the image I uploaded.
