I'm not sure what to believe about netbooks and Linux. It's also been claimed by some that high returns were really about poor implementations of Linux by on particular provider (MSI). Of course Intel apparently is getting a lot of returns, apparently from folks who expect a netbook that can equal in performance a desktop or latptop running 3 to 4 times its selling price. For word processing, simple storage, or even display of images, netbooks are more than adequate. However if you're heavily into multimedia, it's a really horrible choice. http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS5658010765.html Finally I note that the Ubuntu netbook remix 9.04 is a much improved Linux implementation. I've even managed to do really simple photo editing with a 2 gig netbook. Please note it was a lot slower than even a desktop from 3 or 4 years ago would be, but for cropping let's say one fool off to the side giving a one finger salute, it's more than adequate if it's all you have available at that moment. ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
