My thinkpad x31 winxpprosp3 laptop has a 4pin firewire port .is there some way, with an adapter, I can use it as the 2nd port required for some external hdd's to get power? They come with a split usb dongle, 1st is for data, the 2nd is for power and I thought I could preserve the 2nd usb port for something else and get the power off the firewire port. also, how to figure out if it's a firewire 400 or 800 .iomega makes ext hdds with both types of connection, but will this MINI firewire do any of that? .tia!
