Too many people rely on them, even when it doesn't make sense to do so. They no longer qualify as something only geeks want or have, instead, they've become mainstream. Car manufacturers even offer said units built in some higher end cars. There was a recent news item about German males being unwilling to follow directions from a female voice on a GPS.
