It is likely that they do not know. I have recently gotten two of these from businesses, and they were both attachments to e-mails and were intended to be copies of an invoice for me to view. As I understand it, even Windows users will typically not have any idea of what these files are nor will they be able to open them unless they use Outlook for their e-mail unless they have a translator app of some sort. I was actually pleased to discover that Graphic Converter would open them on my Mac, but then again, GC will handle so many file types that perhaps I should not have been all that surprised after all. Your advice about informing folks who have Outlook so configured is well placed.
