RTFM. The easiest way is to plug the Expander into wall power and place it next to your existing AP. Press the Expander's auto setup button for 5 seconds. Then unplug the Expander and move it to a spot on the edge of your network where it can relay signals to/from the AP thereby expanding your network.
There are alternative setups depending on your friend's specific configuration. Again RTFM.
