Murdoch is setting up to blame the Internet for his publication's ills, forgetting that a news source that reports happenings from a universe far, far away is of little use to business people who need solid information to make correct decisions. I think Bloomberg is going to clean his clock, but he will blame the Internet.
Murdoch's lost a lot of WSJ subscribers to Financial Times of London. They have a wonderful web site, and the best magazine too ["how to spend it"]. FT.com allows you to view 10 articles per month with its free subscription--for more, you pay. The online subscription costs more than print--why? because they can? What you can't find at FT, you can find at Bloomberg and the many other free or subscription sites. At least FT has news. The only reason I ever looked at WSJ was for financial listings. Their editorial page has been hideous for years.
An online subscription to WSJ is worth about the same as the NY Post, without the silliness and huge headlines or raunchy pix.
