Check out the compatibility of the explicit burner [brand / model], explicit 
writable blank disc, and explicit intended player before performing the burn.  
Or tread the first burn as a test flight.  The latter is easier, as the 
compatibility information isn't always easy to find.  Few burners or players 
are compatible with "everything."

It's basically a crap shoot much of the time.  Competition, you know.

If it won't play on the computer, the problem may be that the correct playing 
CODEC isn't installed on the computer.
