I'm using Office 10 as well and I love it. So far she's totally balking at
Win 7 ("it doesn't work like XP!") and she hates Office 10. Oh well.

I have used it successfully.
Install it and use it. You will find out real fast if it does not work.
At present I am using Office Beta 10. Better than 07, but still a bit
different, enough to make me want to throw my hands up in publisher.
