Smart phones radiate much more power than do "regular" cell phones. A number of smart phones, including the Droid, radiate at powers that reach right up to the limit as set by the FCC. These power limits are imposed specifically for user safety because the RF signals used by these phones are microwaves that are known to be able to damage human cells.
Of course, the debate about cell phone safety is ongoing. However, if there are health problems associated with cell phone use, then the growing legion of smart phones are by far the most dangerous, generally radiating more than twice the amount of microwave energy as do most "regular" cell phones.
