The problem will be does you flat panel have a miniphone jack for sound?
I doubt it.
You will need to also get a miniphone jack to two RCA plug connector
to enable you to plug in the sound.

Yes, I've connected my ThinkPad directly to a TV with a VGA input. Works
fine. Nothing else is needed.
