Well, there's a small build problem on Windows, since I forgot to add
the new APIs to the DLL export file; see attached patch. (Hopefully this
applies OK, since I generated it using Cygwin; perhaps the line-endings
are broken, but it should be obvious-enough to apply manually).
With that fix in place, I tried a config update under XP. The first
time, the verify failed, but the second time it worked fine. Perhaps
that's the same kind of timing issue as under Linux. I also tried all
the other supported actions on the 700.
