Weird.  I'm 99% sure the Link could only be sync'd via WiFi.  But I don't 
have access to one anymore to verify.

Well, if you're up for it...I'm assuming you have Windows running in a VM? 
You could use Wireshark to capture the USB packets while performing a sync 
in the VM.  Then I could start figuring out how to make the sync work.
