>From Linate Airport Linate is very close to Milan, so you can take the bus 73 or X73 (no stop) in front of the airport, which will drop you in Piazza San Babila (heart of Milan, underground MM1). Avoid taxis, unelss you have bulky luggage, as they are extremely expensive (be careful and check the meter, which is compulsory).
>From Malpensa Airport If you fly EasyJet, you will arrive at Malpensa Terminal 2. If you fly any other airline, you will arrive at Malpensa Terminal 1 Airport. Take the Autostradale bus to Milan Central Railway Station (you can download the timetable from this link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/autostradale-malpensatimetable.pdf). DO NOT TAKE TAXIS. >From Bergamo Airport If you fly Ryanair, you will arrive at Bergamo Caravaggio Airport. Take the Autostradale bus to Milan Central Railway Station (you can download the timetable from this link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/autostradale-malpensatimetable.pdf). DO NOT TAKE TAXIS. Public Transportation You can find general rules here: http://www.atm-mi.it/en/ViaggiaConNoi/Biglietti/Pages/Tipologie.aspx. If you have bulky luggage (bigger than a regular trolley) you must buy a ticket for the luggage as well (it is weird, but this is the rule). I suggest to buy the Carnet of 10 Standard Tickets, which is personal (you cannot share it) but is better than the 24/48 hours ticket (unless you plan to use it more that three times in a day). You can find ticket descriptions and prices here: http://www.atm-mi.it/en/ViaggiaConNoi/Biglietti/Pages/Biglietti%20Urbani.aspx. I suggest to use the underground as much as possible, because it is less subject to surface traffic (which is really unpredictable). The underground map is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/map-underground.pdf. The entire network map, including surface buses and trams, is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/map-publictransport.pdf. Getting to the Conference from the Underground OPENING SESSION Get out at MM1 Duomo (underground, red line), and then follow the map to the Old University (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/map-openingsession.pdf). Once there, you enter from the right entrance into the main court, where you must reach the door in the middle of the left wing. Once in, the main hall is on the left side (there should be LibreOffice banners). To go to the Conference Building, go back to Duomo Square, and get MM3 (yellow line) direction San Donato Milanese. You must get out at Lodi TIBB. CONFERENCE BUILDING Get out at MM3 Lodi TIBB (underground, yellow line), and then follow the map to the Computer Science Department (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/map-department.pdf). Once there, you enter in the court and turn left where you will see the LibreOffice banner between Aula Alfa and Aula Beta. If you are looking for Aula Lauree, turn right for the LibreOffice banner, enter the door and go to the second floor (where you will find some signage). Getting from the Conference to the Hackatons HACKATONS >From the conference building, follow the map: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/116590/map-hackaton.pdf. When you are at the end of Strada della Carità , you will find the door of ELF Teatro building just in front of you, on the other side of Via San Gerolamo Emiliani (number 1). If the door is closed, ring ELF Teatro, or call +39 02 4547 6550 (or my mobile +39 348 5653829). Power Plugs Coming from another country, you usually need an adapter (for sure if you are coming from the US or UK, most probably if you are coming from Germany). You can find many infos here: http://www.adaptelec.com/index.php?main_page=document_general_info&products_id=304. Food, Drinks and Coffee Food is usually good everywhere (of course, there are places where it is even better), but check the prices before entering any restaurant and avoid those not showing prices outside. Wine can be very expensive, so always ask for the wine list and check the prices. Beware of the house wine, because the quality might be terrible. Italian coffee is considered to be very strong. I suggest you to taste it at least once, and if you feel it is really too strong you can ask for american coffee (which is coffee soup for Italians). Cappuccino is very popular amongst foreigners, but please do not drink it at the end of the meal (Italians will look at you with a sense of sympathy). As an alternative, you can try "caffè marocchino", which has some milk and cocoa powder in it. Some Italians drink it at the end of the meal although most do not consider it appropriate. Wine and Alcohols I am an expert (certified wine and grappa taster), so please ask for a suggestion before getting intoxicated by something bad. It is better a beer than a bad wine. -- Italo Vignoli - The Document Foundation mob +39.348.5653829 - sip/jabber it...@libreoffice.org skype italovignoli - hangout/jabber italo.vign...@gmail.com email it...@documentfoundation.org -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: conference+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/conference/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
