The new version is actually written in JavaScript, which is the same as
the previous version.

Also, if you are able, if you go to the IRC channel #conkeror at
irc.freenode.net, you may find it is easier to get help there.  I am on
that channel quite a bit of the time, and others are often there as well.

These instructions were indeed intended for use with the xulrunner
version of Conkeror.  You will probably find the xulrunner version is
substantially improved over the previous one, although there is not that
great documentation.  (Though we are trying to put more information on
the wiki.)
