G'day John, I misunderstood how completion was previously working. The patch I provided was useless. I'll need to wait for QUERY_TYPE_UNIFIED to get what I want.
Thanks for prompting me to an understanding. > I think > that adding a user variable to optionally regress to a known bug is the > wrong way to go about solving this problem. Naming a feature "broken > bookmark completion" doesn't really say what that feature is. Yes. It was intended as a temporary kludge, but was based on a false premise. I apologise if you found the name to be denigrating; it was only intended to indicate that the variable was a kludge. > Also the default query type is QUERY_TYPE_HISTORY, so perhaps > conkeror can already do what you want it to do, as follows: > > url_completion_use_history = true; > url_completion_use_bookmarks = false; Until now I have had all three of webjump, bookmark and history completion enabled. I thought that was working, but I now find that it was not searching bookmarks. It so happened that (as I've only been using conkeror a short time) all my bookmarked sites were also in the history, so I never noticed that. So I will use your suggestion for now. Once QUERY_TYPE_UNIFIED works I'll re-enable all three. Thanks again, David.
