If so, it was not obviously to me. But I had the feeling that some
replies came before the mail to which they replied. I though expected
local performance issues (and therefore deferred mails) to be the
reason.

I personally really dislike Google Groups -- that's not mail, that's
Usenet brought to the web with some rather strange mail gateway.

I would preer some "real" mailing list, like something running
Mailman, ezmlm, Majordomo or Petitdomo or so. SourceForge e.g. offers
Mailman based mailing lists for the projects hosted their and most
other full-service project hoster do that too. (That's no critic
against repo.or.cz, they do just one thing and they do it really good.
:-)

If I have the choice I usually prefer Mailman. I run a Mailman server
at work with about 200 lists. It's not without problems, but they
start where it starts to become complex, like nested lists, lists as
admins of other lists, etc.

Unfortunately I currently can't offer to run such a list although I do
run a Mailman server for myself, too, but my rented server is already
to slow for what it does now... Which is btw. also the reason why the
webserver with the nightlies is currently quite slow and fails then
and when. :-/

                Kind regards, Axel
