I think that's something that changed in Firefox/XULRunner. There are at least two bug reports in Debian about -no-remote having changed in its meaning: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=666716 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=675544 I suspect that the same counts for Conkeror with XULRunner 10 and higher.
