When I pronounce it... with s, my tongue tip is slightly further forward
than the alveolar ridge, but not far enough to make it T, with the
frission being between the alveolar ridge and the flat of my tongue just
past the tip.... it sounds weird, given how everyone describes
pronouncing s. Come to think of it, my t is just past the alveolar ridge
as well... but the frission is on the tongue tip with t, so I guess its
about half way to being dental. :( BTW, I was in speech therapy for a
while as a boy to teach me to get T right...

It's also VSO if there's an adverb in front of the verb, e.g. "Gestern
sah ich einen Tiger" or "Vermutlich hat er mich gesehen", or even
"Dann schoss ich mir ins Knie". (Not sure whether "dann" is an adverb,
though.)

Basically, it's VSO in main clauses as soon as there's something
non-subject in front of the verb, since that'll displace the subject
to after the verb in order to maintain the verb in second position.

So it's also VSO in those cases.

Both "Isst du [gerade] Fisch?" (yes-no) and "Warum isst du Fisch?"
(wh-) have VSO word order.

Oh? I assume you have sound sources to back that up?

Or in other words: can we really know for sure what pronunciation was
like? There are, after all, a number of different pronunciation
traditions for languages such as Latin and Greek.

And who knows: maybe what they're talking is even an accurate
reflection of *some* dialect of Latin.

Same here.

And with this.

Is it not possible, though, to participate in the CONLANG-related
aspects of the list and ignore threads that start to wander off-topic?

Goblin-eyed elves kissing... not quite the symbolism
I'd go for. =P I thought we had agreed not to put
faces onto the flag.

You know, now that I have a clear favorite among the
concepts, I wonder whether I shouldn't pull off what
Nader ought to do a few days before the election, and
retract all my proposals save for the good one. =P
I guess that's not possible if people actually want
to vote for those other flags, though. =\

(In particular, the sun on blue sky over black hill
flag strikes me as incredibly naive and unprofessional
in comparison to the class of our latest Babel tower
evolution. On the other end of the spectrum, my
"Exchange" feels downright cold and antipathic, like a
supercorporation's logo.)

No *unbearded* faces, at least... Now that I think of it, adding
beards to the faces would automatically make them bearded nd gay,
wouldn't it? ;)))
