over three years.
Barry will discuss what triggers a 'major' new release and some new features
including:
 - member diagnostics,

Speaker: Massimiliano Stucchi

Title: Blocking and censoring the Italian Internet for football
reasons. An explanation and history

Abstract:

The Italian government, in late 2023, decided to tackle the issue of
streaming services providing live streams of Serie A games complaining
about a large number of viewers using illegal solutions to access
services for free or for a lower fee. They did so by implementing a
platform for copyright holders to signal IP addresses and FQDNs involved
in providing illegal streaming services, and forcing ISPs to block those
addresses in 30 minutes, risking sanctions. Recent additions to the law
include a mandate for ISPs to report users who are suspected of using
illegal streaming services, with the risk of being convicted to 1 year
in prison for not doing it.
In this talk I will provide a small timeline of events, with details on
the implementation of this set of laws, to warn the RIPE Community about
what is happening in Italy.
