Multi-process setup

I don't get something.  When I run the agent process and that I'm 
pointing it to my properties.xml file where connector.xml file is 
listed.  Why do I have to manually register my connectors?  I've ran 
DBCreate, Install and Register(CrawlerAgent).  Noticed I have to issue 
register commands for the rest.  I don't understand the purpose of 
connectors.xml if I have to do this manually.
