"ManifoldCF has been tested against PostgreSQL 8.3.7 and PostgreSQL 8.4.5. ..."

Since PostgreSQL 8.4 was released in July 2009, is it time to upgrade to version 9.1?

In the following weeks, I will try to run MCF on PostgreSQL 9.1 and do a couple of tests. If there are some database issues specific to MCF I should be aware of, please inform me, and I will try to take a closer look at these.

I have read the release notes for major versions newer than 8.4:
http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/release.html

It seems that VACUUM functions now are more faster since they will rewrite the entire table (E.8.3.4.3). Maybe MCF will perform better with this change.

Another thing. There is a change in version 9.1 related to strings (E.2.2.1). Backslashes are now treated as ordinary characters in string literals, not escape characters. This is something which may affect MCF.

I can always open a new ticket about an PostgreSQL upgrade if this is something we should consider.
