The fix actually *does* fix some things; the table-of-contents in the PDF looks
right, but the content itself doesn't. I conclude that we have to modify the
pdf generation configuration file so that it specifies a different font for
Japanese vs. english; apparently it's not smart enough to realize that the font
in question has no Japanese characters and try a different one.
