I don't see why "heretic" :-) I don't know of any public efforts, but given that Nokia is in the boat and next Maemos will use Qt4 interfaces, it's perfectly possible someone is working on that. The more GUI we have, the better. And unlike NetworkManager it's much easier to write Connman GUIs. I'm taking care of EFL/E17 but ran out of time, it was quite cool and easy to get working the first prototypes.
