yes, the Simple NTP support will replace the one-shot mode. And I am
also looking at GPS time and also NITZ.

So ConnMan will become the central point for time updates. As long as
you select automatic time updates it should utilize all available
resources to have the most accurate sense of time without consuming too
much CPU cycles or network bandwidth.

We are clearly not there yet, but I am convinced that only a full
integrated solution that knows about real online/offline states will
work here.

I have a proof-of-concept for Simple NTP working and Martin volunteered
to help integrating it. I will commit this after we have done the next
release.

When it comes to integration with Gypsy, we have to look into it. I have
not at this point. Mainly because NTP is a way better sources when you
are actually online. Only when you are offline, GPS and NITZ are useful.

I can see your point here. In the IVI case you rather wanna have GPS and
NITZ since you most likely will be more offline than online.

So seems like ConnMan needs a plugin to interact with Gypsy. I still
need to get a bit deeper into GPS since for time concerns we might not
have to wait for 3D fix. So the power consumption on systems were the
GPS is most of the time off is interesting.

Regards

Marcel
