The feature was requested by a customer, apparently they want to
disconnect all other connections so that they are left with only one at
a time. It's a policy decision first and foremost. It can be used for
simpler connectivity requirements when there is no other infrastructure
deciding what interface to take for the traffic. For example to really
ensure that non-flat rate 3G data is not used when WiFi is on. I could
be wildly guessing that it can be used for some power management
decisions too.
Maybe this feature makes sense upstream or maybe it doesn't. With the
code on the mailing list also other developers can take a look and tell
if this is something that they can benefit from.
