The multi-label partial domain resolution is not an issue, and I know
it's a definition matter. I just noticed its disagreement with
getaddrinfo(3). My personal opinion is that it may make more sense to
expect host.zone to be resolve as if it were host.zone.company.com,
though. Do you know any RFC for this?
As to the sample messages, I could not get tcpdump for my test platforms
for some unknown reason. So, attached are my debug outputs with slightly
offset source code line numbers.
In both cases, resolv.conf is
