Call for paper - Conservation of Historic Interiors symposium 19 May 2017 at
the Royal Museums Greenwich

This symposium will focus on the ethical decision making involved in
conserving/restoring historic interiors/buildings, and the importance of
collaboration between heritage organisations.

The Queen's House, part of Royal Museums Greenwich, has recently reopened to
the public after a £3M restoration project. Designed by Inigo Jones for James
I's queen, Anne of Denmark, it is the first Palladian style building in the
country. A significant part of the project was the conservation of the King's
Presence Chamber and the painted ceiling in the Queen's Presence Chamber.

Taking the starting point in these two case studies the symposium intends to
look at the evidence that informs the ethical decision making process. We are
seeking papers that explore this link within the conservation/restoration of
historic interiors/buildings.

To submit a proposal please send a summary (500 word maximum) to
[email protected] including the provisional title and the name of the author(s).
The deadline for submissions is 28 February 2018.
