The Detroit Institute of Arts seeks applicants for an Andrew W. Mellon 
Postgraduate Fellowship in Paintings Conservation. The fellowship is a 
full-time position lasting one year, beginning September 1, 2017, with the 
possibility of renewal for an additional two years.
The DIA's collection is among the top six in the United States and constitutes 
a multicultural and multinational survey of human creativity from prehistory 
through the 21st century. The Fellow will participate in all departmental 
activities, including painting examination and treatment, acquisitions, 
exhibitions, and loan preparation, and have the opportunity to work with the 
DIA imaging specialist and research scientists in the well-equipped analytical 
lab. The Fellow will also collaborate with other museum staff, including 
curators, educators, and collections care specialists, in preservation 
activities throughout the museum. The Fellow is expected to design and execute 
a research project of his/her choice that is of publishable quality.

Applicants must hold a master's degree from a recognized conservation training 
program. The fellowship includes a $35,000 stipend, health benefits, and $4,000 
for research and travel. Interested candidates must submit an online
