Greetings! I am a mature-age student studying a Bachelor of Heritage,
Museums and Conservation at the University of Canberra in Australia and in
mid-2017 will be travelling to the UK to conduct research into the trims of
the Georgian Period as part of a Kickstarter Project that will be closing
in a few days time. I will be analysing garments closely and taking
photographs to show how all the different types of trims were constructed
and then applied to the garment. With this information I will then make
reproduction trim so I can add construction tutorials. This information
will then be published in a full-colour A4 softcover book.
I bring to this project my foundation experience as a historical tailor,
teacher, collector of antique textiles and experience as a desktop
publisher. I am keen for others to understand how trims are made and
applied so that they can construct reproduction garments with more
knowledge and be able to repair garments appropriately.
