Dear all, I am sure there are several people who studied lacquer (both European and Asian) from Margaret Ballardie in this mailing list.
She is the founder of Restoration Course (Now Conservation Studies Course) at City and Guilds of London Art School. Also taught lacquer techniques, materials and conservation in Lambeth College, Venice European Centre and various other places and often did private tuition for many years. Also she contributed several articles, both Asian and European lacquer to conference papers and such. She has been staying in bed in her house in a countryside after she got a stroke. She will be 90 years old next April, so we have been thinking what we can do for her. First of all, I would like to ask her former students to send her Christmas messages this year. Please send me a message if you don't know her address. [email protected] Second, please give me ideas what we can do for her to celebrate her 90th birthday. We may compile her achievement. Thank you very much for reading. I wish you a Happy Christmas too.
