Subject: [Consdistlist] silk ship portrait

In the USA there are a number of maritime museums that have Willis
painting/embroidery pieces in their collections. Mystic Seaport Museum in
Connecticut has a number of them and over the years relied on a number of
different conservators to treat them due to the varied materials that Willis
used in their execution. Some have a canvas background which was painted using
oils and others have fabric that has been embroidered along with the ship
itself. Specific information on treatment and conservators used can be
accessed by contacting the registrar, Nancy Seager
