Dear All,

ICCROM together with the Institute of African Studies at the University of
Ghana, is pleased
to announce its 2017 SOIMA International Course on Sustaining Sound and Image
Collections. The course will take place from July 9 to 23, 2017 in Accra, Ghana.

The advanced workshop is tailored to address the challenges of collecting,
preserving and
using (and reusing) sound, still, and moving image content within the broader
context of
rapidly changing technology and shrinking resources. It will focus on
collection management
issues in different institutional contexts that are unique to these types of
materials.

The course will include topics such as: digital preservation, collection
assessments, dealing
with digitization and documentation backlogs, utilizing innovative open access
solutions,
intellectual property rights, copyright legislation, community-based archiving
and assessing
values and meanings of audiovisual collections.

The programme will be designed according to participants' current and future
projects. It is a
unique opportunity for professional development and expanding your network. A
limited
number of scholarships will be given, but only after the due selection process
and upon
providing evidence on lack of support.
