The Margaret Herrick Library of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science 
is pleased to announce a pre-program conservation internship.  The internship 
is designed for students who intend to continue their studies of art 
conservation at the graduate level.
The internship is part time and extends from June 12th through August 18th, 
2017. The internship is paid and a typical work week will be 20-28 hours. 
Internship projects will include conservation treatment of archive/library 
materials, including manuscripts, books, and other graphic materials on paper; 
environmental monitoring; and rehousing of materials. The intern will develop 
skills in treatment, decision-making, prepare condition and treatment reports 
with appropriate photo documentation, and gain additional experience in 
conservation treatment. Special interests or specific goals of the intern are 
encouraged as part of the learning experience.

The Margaret Herrick Library has extensive and comprehensive research 
collections on the subject of motion pictures including posters, production and 
costume drawings, books, periodicals, screenplays, photographs, manuscripts and 
ephemera as well as other special collections relating to prominent industry 
individuals, studios and organizations.
 
Position requirements:
Student must be currently enrolled in an art history or museum studies program 
at the undergraduate level with emphasis in chemistry and studio arts and have 
a grade point average of at least 3.0.
