Katarzyna Bernaciak asks about how to treat objects that have been stored in
naphtha or mineral oil for many years. I wonder why they need to be treated?
Are they deteriorating, or are they needed for display? If they are stable, I
would be inclined to leave them alone. If they do need to be treated, I would
try soaking them in changes of another solvent that is miscible with naphtha or
mineral oil and that is more volatile, such as hexane, and then allowing this
solvent to evaporate.
