I currently am a student in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage,
specializing in easel paintings in Paris.

My masters thesis item is an oil on canvas, dated approximately between the end
of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century, probably of Flemish origin

The lining is fixed on the stretcher by nails, and the original canvas is
directly glued to it. The edges of the original canvas cover the nails on the
stretcher edges.

Has anyone ever observed this type of lining? I can email you a photo of the
lining if needed.

I would like to thank you in advance for your help.
