The collaborative group, Rochester Cultural Heritage Imaging,
Visualization, and Education (R-CHIVE) is hosting a conference in
Rochester, NY on June 19 and 20 to consider the topics of how modern
imaging technologies may be used to assist conservators, codicologists, and
scholars and how materials studies may be used to inform the image
collection. Registration cost is very nominal: $10 for students, $30 for
others. Information about the conference and registration is available at
the "Conference" tab at www.r-chive.net.

R-CHIVE unites faculty, research staff, and students at the Rochester
Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester who are exploring
technological solutions for the study of manuscripts. Members of the group
have a long history of effort on projects to recover the text from
historical manuscripts, including the Archimedes Palimpsest, the "New
Finds" palimpsests at St. Catherine's Monastery, the c. 1491 World Map by
Henricus Martellus Germanus, and the Codex Vercellensis.
