Please join us for an informative and entertaining evening of presentations on
several new approaches to paper conservation treatment. The presentations
feature research on the use of gels, borane, and chelates; treatments of a
heavily damaged pastel painting and historic wallpaper, and the adaptation of
the historic restoration practices of Max Schweidler. Presenters include
Crystal Maitland from the Canadian Conservation Institute; Rosaleen Hill from
Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario; Lorraine Bigrigg of Studio TKM
Associates in Massachusetts, and Kyla Ubbinck from Ubbinck Book and Paper
Conservation in Ottawa. A panel discussion following the presentations will
allow all in attendance to discuss current research and practice.

The Gladstone Forum is being held on a Saturday night at one of the best
boutique hotels in Toronto on trendy Queen Street West: we will entertain as
well as inform you! Art installations will be on view and food and beverages
are available. The Gladstone supports artists year round and features
provocative displays throughout the hotel. Add to the menu comfy couches and a
balcony to ensure a good time! Fameless Karaoke starts at 10:30 PM and runs
until 2 AM.

Thanks to the Canadian Association for Conservation for their generous support.

“The Gladstone Hotel is where ideas are cultivated and magic happens. It’s
where people come to participate. It’s an accessible space that allows artists,
travellers and diners to collide, collaborate, disagree, debate, fall in love,
get in trouble and get away with it. Set within the historic walls of Toronto’s
oldest continually operating hotel, the Gladstone has evolved into a social and
cultural house with 37 artist designed hotel rooms, a restaurant + bar and four
unique event venues.”
