*2018 AGG Conference Call for Papers / Proposals*

The American Glass Guild Conference Committee is seeking proposals for
lectures, panels, demonstrations by artists, craftspeople, studios,
conservators, architects, historians or panels for the AGG annual
Conference to be held June 22 – 24, 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio. We are also
interested in proposals for pre-conference workshops. Please consider
sharing case studios, bodies of work and other relevant information with
others in the profession.

The Conference presentations will include a variety of aspects that are
faced in our field, including but not limited to, the following topics:

   - Case Studies, historic to modern examples
   - Design
   - Artistic processes, innovations & techniques
   - Conservation / Restoration
   - Materials & products
   - Professional business practices & issues / trends
   - Art glass

Presenters, demonstrators and panel moderators & panelists will receive
discounted registration for the conference. Special consideration may be
given for other costs (travel, lodging) on a need basis. As a non-profit
organization, defraying costs helps us be more active in providing
educational programs and scholarships. But we also need interesting and
talented presenters, so please let us know what you need to participate.

If accepted, you will be contacted by December 15, 2017. Presenters will be
required to sign a contract and submit a head shot (300 dpi) for
promotional materials. Content from your submittal may also be used in
these promotional materials and posted to the AGG website, social media and
blog.



*Submission Guidelines*

*Categories*

Presentations to be submitted in the following categories:

*Lectures:* 20- or 40-minutes, plus additional time for Q&A. Handouts
(i.e., lecture slide guide) are extremely helpful. AGG will provide the
copies and insertion into the conference packets if a master is provided
2-3 weeks before the conference.

*Demonstrations:* 30- to 60-minutes performed 3-4 times in succession or
during the course of a day. Should be a presentation of a particular skill,
technique or process. Presenter may speak about, show images or pieces of a
process, and/or perform various aspects of the process live from start to
finish. Any special needs should be shared prior to acceptance of proposed
demonstration. Typically several demonstrators are presenting at the same
time in different locations and attendees are rotated through to help
reduce class size and to create a more personal interaction.

*Panels: *50 minutes. Moderator and up to 4 other panelists discussing a
topic or range of issues. Visuals welcomed.

*Workshops:*

Full-day (8 hours) workshops or ½ day workshops (4 hours). Both to include
30-minute clean up. Half of the workshop fee will be paid to the instructor.

Note: Submissions for several categories from one presenter is welcome.
Consider a lecture and a workshop or demonstration since you are already
attending.

 *Submission for each Proposal*

 *Lectures*

   - Proposals should include a title and a description as it will appear
   in the conference brochure and on the AGG website. Please limit to no more
   than 300 words.
   - Presenters must include a brief bio (75 – 100 words), in addition to
   Resume/CV and full contact information: name, company, mailing address,
   phone, email address & website.
   - If a panel is proposed, please include the contact information of all
   panelists.
   - Provide several digital images relevant to your presentation: 300 dpi,
   high enough quality to appear in the conference materials. Please attach
   digital images that are at least 800 pixels on the shortest side.
   - Include a plain text file with photo information and photo credits.

*Demonstrations*

   - Proposals should include a title and a description as it will appear
   in the conference brochure and on the AGG website. Please limit to no more
   than 300 words.

   tables, paints, easels, water, kilns. Include who will be providing each
   item – presenter, attendee or AGG.

   digital images that are at least 800 pixels on the shortest side.
   - Include a plain text file with photo information and photo credits.

*Workshops*

   - Proposals should include a title and a description as it will appear
   in the conference brochure and on the AGG website. Please limit to no more
   than 300 words.
   - Instructors must include a brief bio (75 – 100 words), in addition to
   Resume/CV and full contact information: name, company, mailing address,
   phone, email address & website.
   - Include all tools, materials, and equipment needed, such as: light
   tables, paints, easels, water, kilns. Include who will be providing each
   item – presenter, attendee or AGG. Please also include any anticipated
   material fees that will be charged per student and what they are for.
   - Provide several digital images relevant to your workshop: 300 dpi,
   high enough quality to appear in the conference materials. Please attach
   digital images that are at least 800 pixels on the shortest side.
   - Include a plain text file with photo information and photo credits.
   - Instructors will need to contact students (a contact list will be
   provided) with any requirements for the class they need to bring, such as:
   brushes, drawings, cutting tools and preparatory work.
   - Instructors are requested to suggest the per student cost of the
   workshop and the minimum/maximum student enrollment.
   - The instructor will be required to fill out a 1099 form before payment
   will be made.
   - As we are a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, over the years various
   instructors have been very gracious and donated their instruction fee back
   to the organization. This donation may be tax deductible, please consult
   with your accountant.
