C.V.s are invited for consideration for the below contract position starting in early 2018 at the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. QOSM is an exciting new museum being developed by Qatar Museums.
A Textile Conservator is required for a 14 month contract starting at the beginning of 2018. Working under the Head of Conservation they will condition assess, conserve and prepare for display a wide range of textile based objects relating to Sport. Objects will be prepared for the opening of the new museum. Mounting of costume is a desired skill. Candidates should be graduates of a recognised Textile Conservation Program with preferably two or three years experience post-graduation. Besides conservation some contribution to collections management and museum fit-out will be required. The successful candidates will gain a wide range of experience on conserving various objects and in related areas such as object mounting and installation, collections management and new museum establishment, planning and logistics. Skills required include problem solving, patience, physical fitness, adaptability and teamwork. A re-location package is included in the post.
