The Library of Congress Conservation Division hosts full-year internships in rare books, art and historic documents on paper, and photographs (one in each specialty). Interns work with nearly all of the lab's conservators in their specialty, but also have a main supervisor. In addition, opportunities to carry out joint projects with the interns in the other specialties offers a rich cross-training, teamwork experience.
The internship fulfils the final-year graduate requirement for the U.S. conservation schools, but is open to all conservation students/recent conservation school graduates at a commensurate point in their education. For the 2018-2019 year, the Conservation Division is also pleased to provide a $3,000 supplement to the final-year stipend from the U.S. graduate schools.
