Master's programme in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the 
University of Amsterdam
 
The conservation programme at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) has an 
excellent reputation with strong international ties and internationally 
renowned lecturers. It is designed to provide a thorough training in one of 
nine specialisations in the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage 
or in Technical Art History.
 
The English-language programme is now accepting applications for five of the 
nine specialisations offered by its two-year master programme. Successful 
completion of the master programme enables the graduate to apply for a further 
two-year post-master leading to the title of Conservator-Restorer of Cultural 
Heritage. Applicants can apply from the 1st of November 2017 until the 1st of 
February 2018 for one of the following conservation specialisations that start 
in September 2018:

Book and Paper
Historic Interiors
Metals
Photographs
Wood and Furniture
 
In the academic year 2019 - 2020, the other conservation specialisations will 
be offered, as well as a master degree in Technical Art History (application 
deadline February 1st 2019):

Contemporary Art
Glass, Ceramics and Stone
Paintings
Textiles
Technical Art History
 
The Programme in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the UvA 
is organised in two phases: a two-year master programme followed by a 
post-master programme. Students are required to pass all four years in order to 
attain the title of Conservator-Restorer of Cultural Heritage. To assist the 
completion of this second phase the post-master programme trainees are awarded 
a stipend.
The UvA offers an optional six-month BA minor in Conservation Studies for 
Dutch-language students in the Humanities or Natural Sciences that wish to 
become acquainted with the history and profession of conservation and gain more 
insight into the nine specialisations taught at the UvA, together with 
Conservation Science and Preventive Conservation.
Applications for the coming academic year (2018–2019) must be submitted by 
February 1st, 2018.
