Rotherham Heritage Services is looking to recruit experienced and dynamic people to create a new project team to lead and deliver on a ‘Care of Collections’ project.
This is a temporary contract for 14 months. Based at: Clifton Park Museum, Rotherham, UK Salary details: £13,960 - £15,309 Job details: 25 Hours, Part Time, Temporary - Fixed Term Closing date: 19 January 2018 Following extensive damage to the museum collections over recent years, essential work relating to collections care must now be undertaken. Funded through the Service’s reserve budgets, this project will: - Complete outstanding actions from the flood in 2007 - Complete outstanding conservation work on water damaged items within the fine art collection - Revalue the museum’s collections - Replace the museum’s collections management database This specific role will develop, plan and implement a preservation and conservation programme as part of the ‘Care of Collections’ project, whilst undertaking in-house conservation work and treatments of key objects and specimens. Working alongside the project team (advertised separately including a Project Manager and two Collections and Conservation Project Assistants) and other colleagues within Heritage Services, this role will liaise with other specialists, support the work to revalue the museum collections, assist with the set-up of the main collections store, as well as supervising the transportation of objects and specimens. You will have experience in conservation preservation of museum collections with the ability to project manage documentation tasks. You will also have strong analytical skills, be able to use your initiative and be an effective communicator in order to ensure the project is completed successfully, making the collections fit for use in the 21st Century. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part time workers and new starters in year) will be granted.
