IIC is delighted to announce that the 2018 Congress will host its fifth
Student Poster Session, which will give students and recent graduates the
opportunity to communicate their projects in a special section of the
congress poster display. The aim of this session is to provide a
peer-reviewed platform for research and work on conservation projects being
undertaken by students and recent graduates. This is an opportunity for
those who are starting out in the field to take part in an international
conference. Student posters will be displayed prominently and, as with the
main poster session, there will be a programmed session giving delegates
the opportunity to speak to poster authors. A PDF-format file of your
poster will also be welcomed at a later stage for display on the IIC
website.

We invite current students and recent graduates to submit proposals for
inclusion at the 27th IIC Congress. Proposals can be on any topic and are
not required to follow the conference theme. If you would like to present a
poster, please send one document containing your provisional title, a
250-500 word summary of the content and 1-2 images by 15 January 2018.
Please also include a short letter of support from your project supervisor.
All submissions must be in English. The choice of posters for display will
be made by 11 March 2018 and final texts/images will be required by 1 June
2018.

Abstracts should be submitted to: [email protected]

The location for the 2018 Congress is Turin, a city with a strong
international profile and innovative industrial centre and, at the same
time, a comfortable, relaxed ambience. Turin has a rich and varied cultural
history from its ancient Roman past to the contemporary art scene that has
transformed some of its former industrial areas. It will be 24 years since
an IIC Congress last specifically addressed issues in preventive
conservation in Ottawa in 1994. During that quarter of a century the field
has developed enormously and preventive conservation has moved to the
centre stage of museum, site and heritage management, contributing to the
sustainability of organizations as well as the care of their collections.
In addition to capturing developments and changes in scientific
understanding and practice, this congress will focus on current issues that
exercise our field.
